2013 Carson Valley Days Theme Chosen ...

The Carson Valley Active 20/30 Club #85 has chosen “Western Roundup” for this year's Carson Valley Days theme.

Due to increases in permits and park rental, the club is raising the parade entry fees to $50 for noncommercial, $75 for commercial. Youth entries are still free.

Preparations begin in November for the biggest celebration of the year, and kick into high gear around March gathering sponsors and putting final details into place.

Parade applications, carnival ticket prices and locations, activity information and a full schedule of events will be posted on their updated website www.carsonvalley2030.org as soon as the information is available.

The Carson Valley Days celebration is June 6-9.

The festival is a four-day event including a hot air balloon launch, parade, craft shows, carnival rides, live music and activities for children and adults.

Parade winners and Citizen of the Year are announced at Lampe Park after the parade, and trophies are awarded the following week.

This is the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club's largest fundraiser of the year, with all proceeds given back to Carson Valley disadvantaged youth.

The inaugural Carson Valley Day was in 1910 and consisted of a barbecue and an impromptu parade by a Reno car club.
