Meet One Of Our Newest Members - Paula Dunne




Why did you join 20-30? How long have you been a member?

I was introduced to 20-30 by Melissa Diaz about 6 months ago.  I moved from Southern California and decided to join the club to get to know more about our community, to help fulfill the needs of children and to meet new people.  I was voted in to club in August 2012 and took on the Secretary position.

What positions (both club and national) have you held?

Do you have a nickname? What is it? How did you get it?

My nickname is Paula Deen within the 20-30 club and was given to me by Melissa Diaz.

Do you like to travel and where have you been?

Most of my traveling is back to Southern California to visit family and friends.  The biggest trip I have taken was traveling to Europe and Amsterdam about 15 years ago.  Went through Windsor Castle and a lot of sightseeing through London.  Have done a few road trips to San Francisco, Oregon, Washington and up through Canada.

How long have you lived here?

I have lived in Carson City for 6 months..

What is the main thing that makes you unique?

I think my personality makes me unique.

What is your greatest strength?

My greatest strengths are my caring nature and ability to accomplish what I set out to do.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of continuing my education throughout my life and reaching goals I set for myself.

Do you have any siblings?

I am an only child.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy being around friends and evening walks with my dog.  I also love to camp in the desert and ride ATV's.

Sierra Nevada Hosts 2nd Annual Zombie Crawl


The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 No. 730 Women's Club's Zombie Crawl is 6 p.m. Oct. 27. Pre-register at www.sierranv2030.org.

The Sierra Nevada Active 20-30 No. 730 Women's Club is hosting a Halloween-themed Zombie Crawl 6 p.m. Oct. 27 in Gardnerville.

The event features a costume contest, poker run, raffle prizes and drink specials at all six bars.

Beginning at Buckaroo's Saloon guests will crawl to The Overland, The French, Sharkey's Casino, The JT and end at Nevada Ugly where they will join Carson Valley Active 20-30 No. 85 and their fundraiser for “Baby Faith” — a 4-month-old Gardnerville Rancho native who is suffering from heart disease, lung disease and brain complications.

Raffle prizes are from CV Sports, Dayton Valley Golf Course, Just 2 Spoiled Spa and Baby Boutique, Ironwood Cinemas and others.

Pre-register at www.sierranv2030.org for $15 or join at the door for $20. Proceeds from the Zombie Crawl benefit the children of Douglas County.

Active 20-30 International is a nonprofit organization providing young adults with an opportunity to make a difference in the life of special needs children in their communities.

The Sierra Nevada Women's Active 20-30 Club No. 730 provides young women between the ages of 20 and 39 the forum and tools to positively affect underprivileged children in Douglas County. Sierra Nevada women support such agencies as Austin's House, Backpack Buddies, the Boys & Girls Club of Carson Valley, the Family Support Council, Kids & Horses and other organizations with a priority in assisting special needs children.

Meet One Of Our Newest Members - Jamie Chambers




Why did you join 20-30? How long have you been a member?

I am a new member and joined 20-30 to help make a difference in the lives of children and future generations within our community!

What positions (both club and national) have you held?

I have not had the pleasure of holding any positions yet.

Do you have a nickname? What is it? How did you get it?

I have far too many nicknames to mention!  Mimi, James, and Jaime (pronounced hy-mie) are standard nicknames I hear almost every day though!

Do you like to travel and where have you been?

I was bit by the travel bug before I was old enough to walk and it has evolved into one of my greatest passions ever since!  I have traveled to many states throughout the USA including Hawaii, Washington, Arizona, Nebraska, Florida, North Carolina and New York.  I have also traveled quite a bit internationally and have visited England, Italy, Sicily, Croatia, Spain, and France!

If the whole world were listening, what would you say?

Be the change that you want to see in the world.   You vote for the
very change you wish to see with every word and action emoted throughout your day and life.  Make it count and remember that even the smallest effort makes a significant difference.

How long have you lived here?

I have been a member of our community for ten years.

What is the main thing that makes you unique?

Everything about me!

What is your greatest strength?

Love.

What are you most proud of?

My family.

Do you have any siblings?

I have two amazing brothers and an amazing sister who is passed.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a student attending the University of Nevada, Reno as a Biology major and Natural Resources/Psychology minor.  I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends and travel whenever possible!

Meet One Of Our Newest Members - Olivia Davis





Why did you join 20-30? How long have you been a member?

I joined 20-30 because I have always been service oriented and saw it as a great opportunity not only to help other people, but to meet new friends.
I was voted into the club a month ago.

What positions (both club and national) have you held?

Being new I haven’t had the opportunity to hold any positions in the club yet.

Do you have a nickname? What is it? How did you get it?

I have had a few nicknames they are usually Liv, Livvy, or Olive.

Do you like to travel and where have you been?

I enjoy traveling but haven’t gotten to do much of it. I have been to Canada, Mexico, and a few road trips across the country

If the whole world were listening, what would you say?

If the whole world was listening to me I would say “Listen with an open mind and a closed mouth.”

How long have you lived here?

I have lived in the Carson Valley for a year this September. Originally I am from Oregon.

What is the main thing that makes you unique?

I think my uniqueness comes from the wide varieties of my interests; I can carry on conversations about anything from horses to random TV shows and books.

What is your greatest strength?

I believe that my greatest strength is my loving compassion. I tend to be the person that people come and talk to.

What are most proud of?

I am most proud of my random wealth of knowledge.

Do you have any siblings?

I have two siblings, one older brother and a younger sister.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I like to be outside, whether I am working horses, going for a hike, Playing at the lake, or hanging out with friends. Outside is the place to be.
