Thanksgiving is arriving early at Trinity Lutheran Church as the men's ministry hosts a turkey dinner fundraiser.
Proceeds go toward winter clothing for Minden Elementary students.
“There's
a lot of needy kids at Minden Elementary School,” Pastor Jim Beilstein
said. “We don't want any child to not have proper clothing. It gets
pretty cold here.”
The dinner is 5:30 to 8 p.m., Nov. 10. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12, or a donation of winter clothing.
The church began a Good News Club at the school this year where volunteers teach Bible classes after school.
“We
kind of adopted them as a school,” Beilstein said. “It's going good.
The children really enjoy it. Some of the kids might never hear about
Jesus any other way.”
The men are cooking up 20 turkeys and all the trimmings to provide any student in need winter clothing.
“If they need gloves or boots or head gear,” Beilstein said, “whatever winter clothing they need.”
The men's ministry began in May and supports City of Refuge as well as Minden Elementary School.
“The Lord calls us to reach out to others, especially those who don't know Him and are in need,” Beilstein said.”
The fundraiser is sponsored by the men's ministry, Trinity Lutheran Child Care Center and Thrivent Financial.
